Elevated Cleaning Guide

Elevated Cleaning Explained

When the clean area is out of reach Ochil Cleaning Services have their very own solution – a cherry picker that comes complete with an IPAF trained operator.  Accessing heights of up to 20 metres (65 feet) our in-house truck mounted platform provides safe access to those normally out of reach places.

At Ochil Cleaning Services we take the strain and stress away from the entire process.

Typical Cleaning applications for Elevated Access Platforms

A truck-mounted access platform, often called a cherry picker or aerial work platform (AWP), is a mobile piece of equipment used to lift workers to heights for tasks like building maintenance, tree trimming, utility work, and of course – cleaning. It’s mounted on a truck chassis, which makes it easily transportable to different work locations.

Roof Cleaning

Here at Ochil Cleaning, we primarily clean roofs using low pressure steam cleaning, as it’s more gentle and the results are always excellent.  Where a roof isn’t easy to access, we will suggest using our very own cherry picker.  Easier, quicker and often cheaper than erecting scaffolding, this truck mounted platform allows us to get the job done quickly, efficiently and safely.

We also use manual roof scraping and biocide treatments or, if it’s minimal organic growth, we just apply a biocide and let weather do the work for us.

Cladding Cleaning

Softwashing uses low-pressure water mixed with biocide cleaning solutions (often biodegradable) to gently clean the roof.

Soft washing is applying cleaning solution to your roof, depending on the roof tiles.  This will kill of all organic growth within minutes, after which we rinse it down and apply again if need be.

Biocide treatments applied on their own take longer than soft washing, normally between 1 month and 6 months before you see the full result of the treatment.

We always recommend applying a biocide because it will stop the organic growth for up to 3 years.

Key features of Our Cherry Picker:

  • Boom Arm: The extendable arm that lifts workers.
  • Basket/Platform: Where the worker stands, with safety rails and controls to manoeuvre.
  • Stabilizers/Outriggers: Legs that extend to provide stability when the platform is in use.
  • Truck Base: The vehicle part, in our case an Iveco truck, that gives us mobility and access wherever the vehicle can access.
